MOMMY MONDAY

Hi everyone! I collaborated with a few pregnant mommies and friends that have had babies and came up with a list of things not to say to a pregnant woman… I personally have loved being pregnant so far. I’ve loved my body and my belly and am in complete awe at the miracle that is birth – however, I have still encountered my fair share of “things people say” and I thought I would share… because sometimes, you just gotta laugh. What NOT to say to a pregnant woman……

  • “I could tell you were pregnant by your face.” – No pregnant woman wants to think that her face looks pregnant….. especially when she’s not even showing in her belly yet. Rude.
  • “Are you carrying twins???” – Really? Even if mommy is carrying twins …. she doesn’t want to hear that she looks like she’s carrying twins…. If mommy is only having one baby, she DEFINITELY doesn’t want to hear that she looks like she’s carrying twins. If you don’t know, please don’t assume. Annoying.
  • “You look like you’re about to pop!” OR “You are SO pregnant!!” – See above. Same concept. Some pregnant mommies are self conscious as it is about their bodies – no need to let us know how big we are actually getting, I think we are fully aware every time we try to get out of bed to pee in the middle of the night….
  • “You know you’re going to get bigger, right?” – Thank you Captain obvious – I think we are pretty aware of how pregnancy works.
  • “OMG, you’re definitely having a girl because you are widening out.” – (This was told to a friend that delivered a baby boy…..way to go oblivious person) Old wives tales are just that – tales…. not guarantees. Why do you feel the need to tell someone how “wide” they’re getting? Rude.
  • “Make sure you get sleep now because when the baby comes you won’t get any.” – Sleeping can’t be accumulated. Getting comfortable at your 9th month of pregnancy to try to sleep is difficult as it is… You try it.
  • “What if you name the baby after his father and then the kid turns out to be a total loser?” – Seriously? Rude.
  • “So you’re going to be one of those people that go for walks with a stroller?” – What does this even mean? If by “one of those people” you mean a “mom”….. then yes.
  • “Are you knocked up or are you just getting fat?” – Not cute.
  • “Another one? Don’t you know what causes that?” – Why?

Those are just a few! Bottom line is, pregnant mommies want to hear how they are glowing and beautiful – not how you’re noticing their body changing…. Am I right ladies?? Do you have any funny ones to add to this list??

Thanks for stopping by! See y’all next week!
