Hi everyone! I’ve been loving me some DIY cleansing oils lately and I thought I would share them with you. I have super dry and sensitive skin, and these cleansing oils not only clean my skin but it leaves my skin feeling hydrated – and who doesn’t love that, am I right?!
This one is for my ASC girls! ๐
Now, there are lots of different base oils you can use, depending on your skin type. If you are on the oily side, you might be thinking that I’m crazy to tell you to use more oil on your skin however, if you deprive your skin of that extra moisture, your skin can kick into overdrive and produce more oil than it would if you didn’t! Who knew?
Here are some of my suggestions for base oils:
- Castor Oil – GREAT for cleansing your skin!
- Sweet Almond Oil – Smells amazing and great for all skin types, especially oily.
- Avocado Oil – Good for mature/aging skin. ( I mix this into my coconut oil ).
- Coconut Oil – Really good for anything and really moisturizing.
- Jojoba Oil – Great for all skin types and for acne prone skin.
- Argan Oil – Great for all skin types.
- Olive Oil – Good for dry skin.
- Grapeseed Oil – Great for all skin types, especially oily skin.
- Sunflower Oil – Great for all skin types.
- Apricot Kernel Oil – Good for dry, aging and normal skin.
I use a glass bottle with a dropper, that you can get here. You can play with ratios if you want to mix oils together ( ie 2 parts coconut oil to 1 part avocado oil ) or you can just use one oil at a time.
To your oils you can add different essential oils with added benefits! Here are some suggestions!
- Geranium Oil (10-15 drops) – anti bacterial properties (FYI has a strong scent)
- Tea Tree Oilย (10 drops) – anti acne
- Rosehip Seed Oil (10 drops) – firming and anti-aging properties
- Lavender Oil (10-15 drops) – healing properties
- Peppermint Oil (10 drops) – great for oily skin and has anti acne properties
For application, I apply the mixture directly on my dry skin over my makeup and I massage it in. Once you’ve applied it all over your face, take a towel and run it under warm water and wipe everything off. The warmth of the water will open your pores and help get everything out, while giving you a nice little steam bath at the same time! Once you’re done, you should be feeling clean and hydrated!
Now, I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination – I’m just a girl trying new things and sharing them with the you guys! ๐ Let me know if you try any of these cleansing oils out in the comments below! Also, let me know if you want me to film a video on these!
Thanks for stopping by!
