Hi internet! I’m coming in hot today with a topic that is very near and dear to my heart. Words. I strive every day to make sure that my words are impeccable when I speak to others, especially my children. Not everyone does this and a simple word creates a small agreement that could turn into something bigger as kids grow up. I was raised by an abusive and alcoholic parent who wasn’t impeccable with his words and I vow every day to be the opposite for my children.
A few years ago I collaborated with our friend and Orlando photographer Rich Johnson to create powerful images to illustrate the real damage done by verbal abuse. I wanted to share that with you today to keep the conversation alive and to really raise awareness that the words that we use with each other can sometimes stick around longer than a bruise.
