After not being able to travel for a very long time, I’m sure everyone is so excited to get back out on the road, whether that’s the literal road of a road trip, or hopping a flight to your favorite destination… am I right?
Tips for Road Trips with Kids
Traveling was my life when I was a flight attendant and our older two babies have always traveled from the time they were babies, but our third hadn’t traveled at all yet because of the pandemic so I was a bit nervous about how it would all work out on our first road trip as a family of five! Thankfully she was amazing and adjusted SO well to traveling!
I’m no expert, but I have learned a few things along the way so, I have some tips to share with you!
Car Activities for Kids
We have three kids so I made three different activity bags for them in their backpacks and they were so happy and pretty importantly, entertained! We use the Kånken Water Resistant Backpack for the girls (but I’m thinking I want one now too lol) and I packed them with the following things:
- Coloring Books
- Coloring Pencils (the pencils hold up better than crayons)
- Etch-a-Sketches
- iPad mini
- Car Tray
- Hands-on Activities
We had a 7-hour trip and we ended up stopping a couple of times to stretch and for potty breaks, but I definitely recommend finding a Target (or a store like a Target) for a stretch break. The kids can walk around and look at toys (you don’t need to buy anything new), and you can get a coffee and head to the $3/$5 spot. Win-win.
I also used this backseat bin for our oldest so that she can keep all of her activities in one spot and the girls also use these headphones when they’re on their iPad’s because no one needs to hear all of the activities going on at once!
If you have any other tips for traveling with kids, I’d love to hear them!! We’re planning more trips through the end of the year and we’re so excited about them!
